Small Boxless Moulding

The cost effective manufacturing facility

Sometimes referred to as compact moulding, this method of manufacturing is ideal for the production of small iron castings.

Our highly skilled methods engineers design the compact mould to suit the casting weight and shape. This eliminates the use of moulding boxes and drastically reduces the amount of sand used. This combined with our sand reclamation system, results in higher production rates and competitive pricing.

Alphaset chemically bonded sand produces a hard, rigid mould which gives the iron casting a superior surface finish and improved dimensional stability. The surfaces of all moulds are coated in refractory mould paints to further enhance the surface finish of the casting. Step joint location of the two mould halves ensure mismatch is eliminated, producing a casting to standards previously thought possible only from automatic moulding systems or shell moulding.

Chemically bonded core sands compliment the Alphaset moulding system, shell cores can be utalised where the customer demands a higher level of precision in internal passage ways. All these factors combine to produce a cost effective casting, with minimal machining allowances, ideal for CNC machining.
