Production Facilities
Modern plant and facilities, reflection of ongoing investment programmes in our business
Our production facilities allow us to manufacture a wide range of Iron Castings in a wide range materials with a high degree of flexibility in terms of quantity and delivery lead times.
Manufacturing of product ranges from highly engineered, highly stressed safety critical castings to components that require close dimensional control.
At our site in Pinxton we have complete manufacturing facilities for the production of high quality iron castings.
Melting is performed in coreless induction furnaces where certified raw materials are transformed into high quality molten metals.
Close control of the moulding process along with our "methoding" expertise and computer solidification simulation (Magma Iron) predictions produce an Iron Casting which is dimensionally true, clean and sound.
The latest technology resins are used to bond a combination of new and reused sand to produce high definition moulds of consistent dimensional accuracy. Dedicated moulding lines utalising both boxless and metal box production ensure an efficient use of materials and optimised productivity dependent on the size and weight of the Iron Casting required.
The finishing operations include shot blasting to remove scale and surface adherence, followed by fettling to satisfy the requirements of quality control and to meet the customer’s specifications.
Manufacture does not necessarily stop with the production of the casting. At BAS Castings we have our own coating facility; we can also offer services for machining that are under our professional and technical control.
