Medium Boxless Moulding
Utilising the latest sand technology
The modern technology of the alphaset sand systems is taken to its extremes on BAS Castings medium moulding section.
BAS Castings design large, tailor made boxless compacts around the casting, taking full advantage of the strength of the chemically bonded sand system to reduce material usage to a minimum.
Running systems, proven at the sampling stage, are added as a permanent feature to the pattern equipment, ensuring that the successful sample methods are duplicated on production runs. This is backed by computer generated method cards and manufacturing instructions.
The boxless moulds, or compacts are handled with self leveling hydraulic manipulators and flood coated to ensure that the superior surface finish for which BAS Castings is renowned, is maintained.
Once cored, manipulators are employed to close the moulds, locating on step joints to ensure mismatch is eliminated. Cores can be supplied in chemically bonded sands, or shell cores used where a high degree of precision is required.
The flexibility of this moulding section combined with careful design of pattern equipment allows for the production of engineering castings, through to heavily cored, complex products, previously thought only possible from traditional, skilled moulding methods.
